David McCarthy, one of the few surviving members of the First Kathil Uhlans, returns to Kathil from Clan space, a hero. But as opposing forces wrangle for control of the planet’s orbital shipyards, David and the local militia are caught up in the power struggle between supporters of Katrina Steiner, and loyalist for Victor Davion. Vowing that he won’t fail the people of his homeworld, McCarthy leads his untested MechWarrior against superior forces, and dredges up a past he’d rather forget.
